A Seasonal acupuncture series

Health, as defined in classical Chinese medicine, lies in our ability to resonate with the dynamic movements of yin and yang. Living in harmony with the seasons and our external environment is one way in which we can keep these forces in balance.

With this in mind, I'm offering an 8 part series of season-specific group sessions. Composed of both discussion and acupuncture, these sessions are specifically designed around the nodes of each season and their midpoints, as understood by the classical Chinese calendar.

Nourishing, flourishing, gathering, and storing are all major thematic movements in the great cycle of a year. By inviting these rhythms into our lives through what we eat, how we move, how we breathe, and the medicines we take in, we have the power to align ourselves daily with the macrocosmic movements of yin and yang. The better attuned our bodies and minds, the better poised we are to accept a well-being of ease and harmony: as above, so below.

ABOUT THE SESSIONS

Each session is approximately 90 minutes long. Formatted to include a brief discussion, we'll cover what gifts the current season offers and how we might invite that season's rhythm into our daily lives. There will be opportunity to share thoughts and feelings throughout the conversation, though participation is by no means required. Prompts related to the season will be emailed out beforehand, giving participants a chance to consider what and if they wish to contribute.

After discussion, I invite each person to put eye masks on (provided and always optional). I lead a short guided meditation and instructions on a brief abdominal self-massage. Each person then receives acupuncture at points most harmonious with that season. As the needles do their work, we listen to a curated soundtrack while reconnecting with ourselves and our environment.

After about 40 minutes, needles are removed and there will be additional time to share. And as always, sitting quietly is perfectly lovely and acceptable.

WHO WILL GET THE MOST FROM THESE EXPERIENCES?

People who want to receive acupuncture in accordance with the seasonal changes and in a group setting. While personal diagnoses, treatment plans, and individual assessments are not given during these sessions, participants will find much they can apply to their daily lives.

People who are comfortable being with other people in a group setting. Participation is never required but one should feel somewhat comfortable hearing what others have to share.

People who are comfortable with music playing while resting with needles in.
